Web Hosting & Domain Name Registry

Domain Name Registry:
One of the
first things to think about is the domain name of your
website. Here is a website
where you can key in the name you would like to have for
your domain to see if it is available,

For example, when I
registered my domain name I wanted woodswebdesign.com
So I keyed in woodswebdesign.com and it came back and told
me it was not available.
It offered some suggestions
that were
available but after looking at several options I decided to go
with woodswebs.com
The name of my site is still Woods Web Design but my
domain name is woodswebs.com. Your domain name does not have
to be the same name as your site however, it is
advantageous if they are the same when people are looking
for your site.

Hosting:
Every
website begins with having a domain registered and web
hosting secured. If you
would prefer to have me register or transfer your domain name and secure
your web hosting, the cost is $95.40. for 1 year or
$142.80 for two
years. Domain registry is included in this price
for the length of the plan. Please see the link
below for Hostmonster for further information. I
use Hostmonster because they have all of the features I
need for everything from static sites to e-commerce sites.
They also offer Microsoft FrontPage extensions and
FrontPage is one of the web tools I use.
If you already
have a domain name and web hosting established then you
are ahead of the game.
If you would prefer to secure your own web hosting and
domain name, I have some links to a
few of the vendors
I can recommend
below. As you will see different hosting sites have
different offers so you will want to do a little research and decide which one
is best for you. I have included some of the cost
information on the ones below. Although some look
to be
a lot higher than others you will want to take into
consideration setup fees, domain
registration fees etc.

vendors websites to check out the most updated pricing.
It is also advantageous to
register your domain name with the web host you decide to
go with, but it is not required. Many web hosts provide
domain name registry with the web hosting as long as you
keep your web hosting with them. If you change web
hosts at a later date, you have the option of transferring
your domain name, otherwise you will pay for
your hosting to one vendor and your domain registry to
another vendor in subsequent years.

- Very good affordable web
hosting offering
unlimited domains,
domain registry and hosting
equating to as little as
5.95 per
month for a 2 year plan ($142.80) or 7.95 for a one year plan ($95.40).
Purchasing a year or 2 years secures your
domain registration with no additional charge.
The service also includes site promotion to the
major search engines.
This is the service I use for Woods Web Design
and the one I use if a client wants me to
secure their Web Hosting and Domain Registry.

Good affordable web hosting but they do not offer domain name
registry. 4.95 per month for the Starter level of hosting. 53.46
if you purchase a full
year when you sign up
for a 10% discount. You will need to register your
domain with another vendor first.
- Churchassist.com
- Good
affordable web hosting and domain name registry. If you
pay
a year at a time it ends up being 3.95 per month plus 12.95 to register your
domain name
for a year. Total for the
year is 60.35. This
is a very good web hosting service for small
churches and ministries that are not looking for an e-commerce site. I have used their
services and highly recommend them for their Customer Service.

High Power Sites - 17.00 per month.
They will assign you domain name or
you can bring your own domain name.

Baptisthost - 14.95 per month with 10.00 setup
fee or 99.00 per year
no setup fee. Includes free domain name.
This one is a bit more
expensive but it comes
with everything you
would need and you wouldn't need to do
an upgrade later if you decide you need an
ecommerce site.

Vodahost - Monthly billing is 9.95 per month
with a 30.00 setup fee. Annual billing is 95.40 no set up fee (ends up being 7.95 pr
month), Tri-Annual billing is 197.00 no setup
fee (end up being 5.47 per month) All of these options
include free domain registration.

Web Hosting - Basic plan starts at
5.99 per month with free domain name
registry
(for a limited time) and then 11.95 per year for the domain registry. If you
purchase your web
hosting &
domain
registry for the first year the cost is 65.89.

- Affordable enough but your domain name
goes through them so it
would be
yourdomain.truepath.com This one is also 4.95
per month.

5.75 per month plus a setup fee. You will also
pay a registration
fee for your domain name of about 30.00 per
year. They also
offer the option of
leasing a domain from
them for free but you can't take it with you
if you decide to go with
different hosting later.
